Sky Harbor has a limited amount of International traffic hence arrival here tends to be painless. Immigration waiting times and baggage reclaim time for international arrivals are in my experience substantially better than other US gateway airports. If you get close to the head of the immigration queue then it is possible on a good day to be outside the terminal building within 40 minutes.
All International flights arrive and depart from terminal 4 which is a spacious modern facility with a good range of retail outlets, restaurants and bars. Throughout 2012 a number of the restaurants are being replaced by outlets run by well know Phoenix restaurants.
Local transportation options including shuttle buses and courtesy buses are all found at the kerb on the arrivals level of the terminal. The location of the stop for each bus is well sign posted.
The airport is situated close to the centre of Phoenix and a number of the major freeways are quickly reached meaning that anywhere in the City can be reached relatively quickly.
All rental cars companies are situated at a purpose built rental car facility that is close to the airport. A complimentary shuttle bus operates to and from the airport with a journey time of around ten minutes.
Super Shuttle provides a shared van service to and from the airport. The website has an online fare quote and booking facility although service can also be arranged at the airport. This company also provides a dedicate car or van service which can also be booked online in advance.
Taxis and limousines are also available to hire outside each terminal. A number of companies can also provide transportation to other locations in Arizona. These are listed on the Sky Harbor website under transportation options.
